Olympian
Bob
Olympian Bob  | Plymouth Playshop, Summer 2016

Written and directed by Michael Sheeks.

Costume and Set Design by Lauren Nelson

This show was a fun romp about the Greek Gods at school children, and how they deal with a mortal named Bob coming to their school. The concept for the show was to combine tradition Greek clothing with modern fashion, so you will see a lot of draped elements over 21st century clothes. The colors are vibrant and fun, just like this show!

I also designed the set for this show and ran the visual arts portion of the camp. I had the children help me paint the set and  they each made a piece of Greek pottery that told the audience something about themselves. The set was designed to be a bit cartoony and kid friendly, just like the show was.

Time Stands Still

Time Stands Still  |  MNSU Mankato, Fall 2015

Written by Donald Margulies, directed by Michael Sheeks.

The focus of this show was the characters and how their relationships change over the course of the year due to war, their professions and their own changing lives. The costumes were designed to be very natural and to show these changes subtley through the use of color grouping to show how they relate to one another.

Gabriel

Gabriel  |  MNSU Mankato, Fall 2014

Written by Moira Buffini, directed by Michael Sheeks.

Our concept for the show was to show the ‘grey’ areas between good and evil, angels and demons.  The costumes were chosen in shades of grey and washed out tones with pops of color to show this.

Escape to Wonderland

Escape to Wonderland | MNSU Mankato, Spring 2014

Written and Directed by Jordan Wolfe

This was our traveling children’s show; they performed in many schools across southern Minnesota.  Being that it was a children’s show, the concept for the designs was to make it as fun and bold as possible.  I used unusual objects like playing cards, cat toys and tea bags to make the costumes visually interesting and fun for the kids!

The Goat or
Who is
Sylvia?

The Goat or Who is Sylvia? | MNSU Mankato Spring 2013

Written by Edward Albee, Directed by Shelley Whitehead.

Our concept for the show was to highlight how it is told like a modern Greek tragedy.  The costumes incorporated elements of Greek dress, such as draping and Greek patterns, but in a modernized way.
